ABOUT LAUREN

Positive. Safe. Encouraging.

Fast forward over 6 years and I've navigated my way through a turbulent period as a newly-qualified midwife, the coronavirus pandemic and now the ongoing struggles of working in an NHS which is stretched beyond its resources.

What has kept me going? Teaching group exercise classes, making valuable connections with people just like me.

I know my work as a midwife is valuable, and I know it is such an important time for mums to build healthy habits and not feel alone. I want to spread my knowledge and enthusiasm to you, to help you achieve the strong, healthy pregnancy and motherhood you deserve. That's why I am bringing you Englands' Bumps; to teach you to love what your body can do, how it can move, and to devote time to talk through your pregnancy and postnatal period - time which I know the NHS does not have.

Lauren England

Becoming a midwife was a decision I made at the age of 17. I went straight from school to university and finished my midwifery degree with a first. It was during my third year that I started group exercise classes, caught the buzz, and quickly realised that I wanted to make people feel how they made me feel; positive, empowered and able to face anything the world threw at me!

I have found a wonderful balance in my working life now, and manage to juggle my time between working in the hospital as a midwife, teaching antenatal classes to expectant parents for Bump and Baby Club, teaching a variety of high impact fitness classes, as well as my postnatal classes. I genuinely enjoy all of these roles, love the variety of doing so many different things and am really proud of the skills and confidence I've gained, but my favourite thing is getting to meet and talk to so many people. I don't have kids (yet - hopefully one day!) but as a midwife and friend of mummas, I understand the daily challenges, limitations and general life with a little one! I also have loads more time to dedicate to you both! The kids you see featured (rather heavily!) on this website are one of my best friend's :)

At England's Bumps, I ensure my classes are fun, non-judgmental and supportive - we all have to start somewhere and I hope I can help you at such an exciting time in your life. If you’re interested in joining a class or would like to learn more, I'd love to chat
